Student Council Attention to current members and those interested in joining, Student Council is hosting its first meeting next Friday, August 21st during lunchtime on the 5th floor of the Victory. Please bring your packed lunch and arrive promptly as we have a lot to cover. If you have any questions, contact Student Council officers, Mr. Mitchell or Mr. Wright. We are so excited to see new faces and all returning members!

 

Basketball Club Do you love playing basketball? If so, join The Basketball Club at the downtown YMCA this Friday, August 21. We will pick teams and play games until 5 p.m. YMCA members get free admission, while non-members will need to pay $5 to enter. See Thomas D-Etti with questions. This is a student-run CAS project, so no Signature School teachers will be present.

 

Fall Play Auditions: Date Change! Theatre Announcement: Fall Play Audition Date Change! Due to La Tomatina, we are moving the Fall Play auditions to Monday, August 24. Time and location remain the same. Please sign up for auditions on the 4th Floor of the Victory.

 

La Tomatina Hola, everyone! Did you know that La Tomatina is a Spanish tradition, where participants pelt each other with overripe tomatoes? Every year, Signature hosts its own version of La Tomatina with water balloons! Come to celebrate the end of the first month of school! La Tomatina will be held after school at the Grassy Knoll on Wednesday, August 26th. The entry fee is $2.00, and everyone is invited to attend!! Bring your amigos!

 

Volleyball Club Want to have fun and play volleyball? Come to Volleyball Club at the downtown YMCA this Friday, August 21. We will play until 5 p.m All skill levels are welcome. YMCA members get free admission, while non-members will need to pay $5 to enter. Reach out to officers Evan Atkinson, Sam Hardesty, Charlotte Barnes, Ellie Hilton, or Teddy Giust with any questions. This is a CAS project run by students, so no Sig teachers will be present

 

Community Service Be sure to check the Community Service group in Schoology to find out about some upcoming volunteer opportunities. Local organizations want help at Frog Follies, a local rodeo, and Halloween activities in Newburgh. You can also lend a hand with feeding the less fortunate, renovating a house, and removing invasive species. If you aren't a member of the group or aren't sure where to look, see Mrs. Atkinson in room 203.

 

College Visits This year's college visit season kicks off next week with a visit from Vanderbilt on Monday, Aug. 24, Holy Cross College on Tuesday, Aug. 25, and Saint Louis University on Thursday, Aug. 27. ALL students are invited to attend college visits and should RSVP through their appropriate "class of" Schoology pages. Please see Ms. Cirino or Ms. Hughes with any questions about registering. Students who RSVP are expected to attend. All visits take place at lunchtime in Ms. Hughes's room, KC 207. Please bring your lunch and be prompt!

Mock Trial Are you interested in law? Acting? Or even shouting 'OBJECTION' at random intervals? Come to Mock Trial's callout meeting Friday, after school, in the KC Commons from 3:30-4:00. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Ethridge in Room 505.

 

Robotics Club If you are interested in building and programming robots and competing with them, then robotics club is for you. Robotics Club is meeting on Monday, August 24th, after school in Mr. Threads room, KC 102, until 4:30. If you have any questions, please contact officers Niranjan Nambiar and Johannaa Gokulnath.

 

La Tomatina: Coming Soon! What better way to celebrate the finale of the first month of school than by throwing water balloons at your friends! This year for La Tomatina, we will be throwing red, white, and blue water balloons to celebrate both the Spanish tradition and the United States' 250th anniversary! Come join us for La Tomatina at the Grassy Knoll on Wednesday August 26th at 3:30. Everyone is invited to participate, whether or not they are in Spanish class. The entry fee is $2.! Try to bring the exact amount!

 

Bio-Olympiad The Bio-Olympiads will host their first meeting of the year on Monday, August 24th at 3:15 p.m. in Mrs. Hayden's room (KC201). Snacks will be provided. All students are welcome.

 

History Club History Club will have its first meeting Monday August 24th in Mr. Robinson's room on the third floor, room 302. Cookies will be provided.
