Current 8th Graders

Current 8th graders are eligible to apply to Signature for their Freshman year.
Admissions Overview
  • Each year on the first Monday in November, Signature School hosts its 8th Grade and Prospective Student Open House. On this evening, prospective students learn more about Signature School from its administrators, faculty, and current students, and have the opportunity to take a tour of the school.

  • The open application period begins at 7:00 AM the next morning and ends on the second Monday in December.

  • At the end of this initial application period, if the number of applications exceeds the number of available spots in the class, Signature School hosts a public lottery in January to determine which students are admitted and which are added to a waiting list.

  • Prospective students can apply at any time after the initial application period and will be added to the end of the waiting list, if one is active, in the order in which the applications are received.

Now That You've Applied

Here are the next steps in the Signature application process.

Lottery -- If at the end of the open application period the number of applications exceeds the openings available, a public lottery is held in early January to determine who is admitted to the class and who is on the waiting list. All applicants – both those admitted and those on the waiting list – should participate in each step of the application process, detailed below.

Shadowing – Beginning in mid-January, prospective students have the opportunity to shadow a current Signature freshman for half of a school day. This is a great way get a feel for the day in the life of a Signature student.

Enrollment Night – In late January, Signature School hosts Enrollment Night. At this event, prospective students and their families learn more about Signature’s curriculum and expectations, hear from freshman teachers about current course offerings, and prepare to make their 9th grade course selections.

March 15 – March 15 is the deadline by which applicants who have been offered admission must inform the school, in writing, of their intent to attend or they will be moved to the end of the waiting list. The March 15 deadline is the same each year.

Freshman Orientation – In April, Signature hosts a Freshman Orientation. This event brings together the incoming freshman class and immerses them in the Signature School culture. Incoming students meet and mingle with upperclassmen, hear from their freshman teachers, and receive tips and tricks on how to prepare for their freshman year. Concurrently, an orientation for parents and guardians is held, providing detailed information on the freshman and Signature experience.
