Now that summertime is finally here, what are you planning to do with your time? One solution to just sitting around and sleeping is to get a job. Instead of stressing over a job interview, just calm down and relax. Make it a Kodak moment! Follow these tips on how to make an interview go swell.
- Review your qualifications. Make sure you know what you can and cannot do.
- Be ready to describe experience.
- Be ready to answer broad questions that make you think.
- Practice before you go into an interview. Have friends or family question you to get you comfortable with the feeling of being on the spot and being questioned.
Before you go into an interview, always dress nice. Do not look disheveled; present yourself nicely. Some tips include:
- Be well groomed.
- Do not chew gum or smoke. Well, most of us do not smoke, just remember NO GUM!
Once you’re dressed and look nice, it is time for the interview.
- Be early. Do not follow the saying better late than never!
- Use good manners with everyone you meet. If people see that you’re nice, you will get on your employers good side.
- Use proper English, avoid slang.
- Use body language. The more interested you act the better.
- Ask questions about the position. ALWAYS ask a question. Even if it is just “What hours will I be working a week?”
- Thank the interviewer.
- Send a short thank you note. The note tends to imply that you are still interested in the position and that you are trying to get it.
You may find yourself saying, “What information should I bring to the interview?”
